Peaceful Living / Compassionate Communication

Prescott Center for Nonviolent Communication presents

Workshop #1:

Peaceful Living – The Foundations of NVC

with Mary Mackenzie

September 19 – 21, 2008

This workshop is anyone who would like to experience more peace in your life and in your relationships. Learn the basic principles of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and how to integrate NVC into your daily life.    The workshop will offer practical skills to:

  • Learn to express yourself and listen to others without blame or judgment
  • Create more understanding and trust in your relationships
  • Increase your ability to resolve conflict with your family, friends, co-workers and in your community
  • Respond more effectively to anger

 No prior training required.

Workshop #2:

Self-Empathy – Diminishing Negative Self-Talk

with Mary Mackenzie

November 14-16, 2008

This workshop is designed to help you improve your connection with yourself so that you may live more compassionately with others.  Learn practical tools to:

  • Clarify what triggers you
  • Translate negative self talk so that you may choose more effective methods to meet your needs
  • Avoid responding in ways that escalate pain in a situation
  • Increase your ability to build relationships based on compassion and understanding

No prior training required.

Workshop #3:

Staying in Connected Dialogue

with Linnaea Marvell

February 27, 28 and March 1, 2009

Sustaining open and honest communication with others especially in situations involving conflict or pain, for most of us, is one of the most difficult and rewarding experiences of putting NVC into real practice in our lives.  In this workshop, you will receive practical experience in:

  • Learning what are the habitual ways in which you loose connection with yourself and others
  • How to identify needs that are and are not being met in situations of pain and conflict
  • Steps to sustaining a connected dialogue with another person
  • How to express what’s true for you when you suspect another may not enjoy hearing it

Pre-requisites:  Workshops 1 & 2 of this series or 20 hours previous training in the fundamentals of NVC with a certified trainer.

Workshop #4:

Living Compassion – Deepening and Integrating NVC Consciousness

with Robert Gonzales

April 17 – 19, 2009

The primary focus of this workshop is to develop awareness of the consciousness of “the living energy of needs” or “the beauty of needs” as a means to engage in a living practice of NVC everyday, moment to moment. You will be introduced to and practice processes that Robert has developed including:

  • Deepening an Awareness of the Beauty of Needs
  • Transforming the Pain of Unmet Needs to the Beauty of Needs
  • Practicing Honesty and Empathy from the Beauty of Need

Pre-requisites:  Workshops 1 & 2 of this series or 20 hours previous training in the fundamentals of NVC with a certified trainer.
